2011 and 2012 were popular race run years for me. They were rising in popularity in general and I was back into a running kick. I didn’t ever set eyes on the Bolder Boulder so to speak, but did end up with an invite to run in 2012 from someone I went to high school with.

The Bolder Boulder takes place annually over Memorial Day weekend with adaptive options in respect to the length of course you want to sign up for. It is a very popular event drawing in international athletes to compete against some of Colorado’s best.

Having been invited and wanting to avoid the mountain traffic that commonly occurs over the long Memorial Day weekend, I decided to run in 2012. I was actually out of running shape at the time and hadn’t put much effort into training, if any really. Couch to 10k was the theme!

One of the aspects I enjoyed the most were all the locals cheering from their front lawns as we ran by including live music! I think I will return to give a better effort in the future and slow down to enjoy the festivities that surround the event itself.
