Connecting Bumps on a Ridge

Mosquito

These peaks in the Mosquito range are some of the mountains I climb most often as they are an ample training playground. I have been working on a project that required a scout project, so after a sunset hike of Dyer earlier in the week I returned with my partner to scout part of my objective.

These peaks in the Mosquito range are some of my most frequented peaks because they make a nice training loop. I have been working on another personal project so I was scouting portions of the route. Having just been on Dyer earlier in the week I returned with my partner to scout part of the project.

It was an awesome day with all the peaks and the loop to ourselves until we finished topping out on Sherman. The usual late crowds were still heading up and a few sat in the rock shelters on top.

We took a quick snack break after a successful day of beta gathering and then descended down the west slopes of Sherman back toward Iowa Gulch.

Leadville is one of my most favorite mountain towns. A little gem with plenty of local options. Definitely spend some time here as you're passing through or even stay overnight to get better acclimated for your hike if you're coming from sea level.

Local jams: Tennessee Pass Cafe, City on a Hill Coffee, Casa Sanchez, Buchi Cafe Cubano.
