This area is unique for a variety of reasons, my favorite being the contrast of sitting next to one of the busiest 14ers in Colorado, Bierstadt. The quiet serenity you get just across the way from chaos and traffic on the other peak. The trail and summit itself is mild and a fun easy outing.
The ascent from the parking lot winds gently up the slope around the lakes and isn’t steep. Once above the lakes the summit is basically a direct hill walk on grassy tundra up to the flat summit. Our pup enjoyed this trail and it was easy on his paws with little talus on the route.
We enjoyed the trail and mountain to ourselves watching the traffic across the way on Bierstadt.
I look forward to returning to connect a bigger loop of nearby peaks.
On your way down from Guanella pass, be sure to make a pitstop in Georgetown to enjoy some of the local spots.
Grab food from Roundabout, Mountainbuzz Cafe & Pizzeria, The Alpine Restaurant and Bar, or Pho Bay restaurant.
Stop by Guanella Pass Brewing or Cabin Creek Brewing.
