Boudoir is such a perfect short little couloir easily accessible in Spring from Denver. I set out on a Monday to solo climb and get a quick lap in.

Fourmile Creek is one of my favorite spots close to Denver because of the accessibility and all the options for training and peak link ups. I find myself back in this area almost every year just to train or ridge run repeat peaks.

Boudoir couloir is a classic short route to the summit of Horseshoe Mountain. A great first couloir for anyone new to the sport but also a great option for that first couloir of the year test the legs training. In spring, this route offers a quick sunrise summit with the option to get back down before your work day starts.

On this particular Monday I set off early to solo climb the couloir and get a quick lap in before I started the work day. The approach is mellow and can be done quickly from the car.

I enjoyed a leisurely stroll to the top of the couloir and then walked over to the summit of Horseshoe Mountain. I then took an easy descent down to the Peerless saddle where I found a good glissade path. After a quick glissade, I was down by the mine debri in no time and made a quick jaunt back to the car.

This was my first couloir post COVID lockdown and I enjoyed getting back into the swing of things with an easy solo outing up a repeat peak.

Don’t forget to stop and check out the local Fairplay spots as you pass through!

Check out these local spots: Brown Burro Cafe, South Park Brewing.
