I took some Basic Mountaineering School (BMS now called TCS) classes in 2017 with the Colorado Mountain Club. Participants then organize a graduation climb to put those skills to use and plan our own objectives. Our group chose Cristo Couloir, a classic snow climb on Quandary Peak near Breckenridge, Colorado.
From Blue Lakes trailhead the approach to the base of the couloir is an easy feat. Once at the base of the couloir, our group navigated our way to the top of the couloir and the summit of Quandary peak. We had a successful climb and then descended the standard route.
One of our instructors, Larry, got back down to the Blue Lakes Trailhead and then drove his truck over to shuttle the group back to the other parking lot. We took an awesome photo of all of us in the bed of the truck and how low the truck was riding with all that weight!
Awesome group and a great day on this classic route.
