November tends to open the doors to ice season in Colorado, sometimes earlier if we’re lucky! In 2019 our friend Ben invited us to climb at Lincoln Falls to kick open the season. Being fairly early we hoped to snag some good lines before the crowds showed up.
A few of us carpooled to Breckenridge from Denver and we all collected at the reservoir. We all geared up and headed up the hill to snag a spot and landed just right of the pillars. The caveat being we wouldn’t get much sunshine at that aspect, but we planned a chill climb day so we layered up and put up the ropes.
As more people filled in we switched our original route and put up a couple other ropes including trying out a mixed line. A couple of us mostly flailed on that, but it was fun not really trying hard.
A super chill day with friends and a great winter welcomer!
