Pick N’ Sledge Trail Loop

Apex and Pick N’ Sledge Trail was a good bun roaster with the ladies for a well-worth cloud inversion sunrise. Bonus points for the deer encounter mid-trail on the ascent.

Pick N’ Sledge Trail Loop

Sunrise Squad

One evening in February a good friend of mine invited me to a trail run for the following sunrise at Apex park. The ladies joining created a sunrise lady run club for weekly running partners. I decided to join and it was my first time to Apex, shocking having lived in Colorado as long as I have.

They decided on the Pick N’ Sledge route on Apex connecting several link up trails. The amount of vertical was great and the trail was in decent shape so we didn’t have to navigate too much snow and ice.

We started in the dark and were rewarded with deer and other wildlife in addition to a stunning cloud inversion and sunrise. After making quick introductions at the trailhead, we naturally fell into two paced groups. Ari darted ahead and I followed behind snapping too many photos and enjoying the deer crossings!

It was a therapeutic run with supportive ladies each running their own pace. The views that morning were stunning and we somehow had the trail to ourselves!
