2013 Steamboat

Years ago my partner Ricky and I would travel to Steamboat annually for a work inventory event for his company. We would then take a couple extra days and stay to enjoy Steamboat.

This was the first year we went and it was a little bizarre starting off with a murder the night before in the hotel we were staying out. Apparently some local drug activity, but a little off-putting to say the least.

We enjoyed exploring Steamboat by street light the first night walking around town, drinking and dining and taking a moonlit walk along the Yampa river to watch the night riders on the ski hill across the river making jumps in the park.

Sunday we hit the resort slopes and unfortunately had terrible weather with super high winds. We tolerated what we could in the early morning, but after whiteout conditions and sustained high winds pushing us literally uphill we decided to call it. The riding was difficult and not fun that day. We still had a great time, though!

Great trip to Steamboat playing tourist and getting a few turns in!
