AIARE Companion Rescue

For the past several years I have invested in my own training and certifications and inching toward a more formal avenue for mountain training.

Keeping my certifications fresh and training current with respect to backcountry travel, especially in winter and with bigger adventures, is critical. I had already taken AIARE 1 and was due for refresher, so I finally signed up for my Companion Rescue class in Buena Vista.

My partner joined and we decided to participate with our new backcountry ski setup since we were starting to enter the sport and navigate away from resorts. Training in the new setup made sense since the last time we took AIARE 1 we participated in snowshoes.

The course was great and we met some awesome people which is pretty common with taking classes such as this. The weather and location were great and we had a stellar day dialing in skills and refreshing our training. Looking forward to continued practice and the next progression in my avalanche training journey.
