Baldy area was my second backcountry ski tour and first time testing my tree ski skills. Such a great area easily accessible in winter, the caveat being the limited parking and popularity.

We arrived early and snagged a spot, strapped on our skis and started skinning up the road early this peaceful morning. We managed to avoid the crowd early. The road was mellow and we cruised up in no time. We split off from where most people were continued up so we could test our tree powder skills.

Too much fun was had with shenanigans in the tree, mostly laughing at each other and attempting to stay upright for more than 30 seconds. We took some time to practice turns and transitions while still adjusting to the new gear. I used the opportunity to snap some content and get videos of us flailing around.

First I took some videos as I went downhill into a patch of trees then I grabbed some footage of Ricardo following while I giggled as he took a few spills.

Skiing in deep powder and trees is certainly more difficult than resort terrain. We had a blast playing in the trees and then shot back onto the road to ski back to the trailhead.
