Urban Skiing

We experienced a snowpocalypse blizzard in Colorado spring of 2021 that dropped multiple feet of snow in Denver over the course of a few days. Being caged up in the city while it dumped snow we naturally took advantage by pulling out the skis for an urban tour.
My partner, Ricardo, and I strapped on our skis and took off out the front door. Most of our neighbors were shoveling snow for the 10th time and plowing their sidewalks or driveways as we headed off on an urban backcountry ski adventure. It was so quiet and quite lovely to experience our own neighborhood on skis. Here we were, experiencing a ski-in ski-out experience in the city! We couldn’t help but relish the opportunity!
The powder was surprisingly enjoyable and we didn’t scrape our skis nearly as much as we thought we might. We made a short loop around the neighborhood and connected a bridge shortcut we normally take with our pup.
It even started snowing again while we were out creating a full whiteout experience. Such a good time and possibly a once-in-a-decade experience we may not be able to have again. I would happily welcome another snowpocalypse, just to set the record!
