Winter of 2019 I was an instructor for High Altitude Mountaineering School (HAMS) with the CMC. One weekend in January we had an invite for all us instructors to ski and crash at a condo in Winter Park. Opportunities to ski, socialize and spend the weekend dialing in crevasse rescue skills for the upcoming cohort of students.

My good friend Ari and I drove up together from Denver to ski the morning before we all gathered at the condo. We were both new to skiing so it was a good opportunity for some resort miles and practice dialing in this skiing thing. Not to mention great company.

We hung on the front side of the mountain with a few early morning runs. Unfortunately Ari got knocked down by a snowboarder who lost control on the slope we were standing below. One of the hazards of resorts these days with too many people on the slopes at any given time over the weekend. After that encounter we took another run and called it quits in favor of warming up at the tavern instead.

It was a great morning just the slaydies before we enjoyed a fun weekend at the condo in Winter Park with the rest of the team.
