Grand Lake SUP

Grand Lake was one of the first places my partner and I regularly visited together and often camped annually for the 4th of July fireworks. The Never Summer Wilderness is a beautiful area despite being scarred from beetle kill and past fires.
We occasionally would drive up and car camp on weekends with our dog and sometimes organize family camping trips in the area. This day we had driven up the night before with our pup to car camp.
The following day we headed to the lake to find a pond or quiet area to SUP for a bit and fish. We found a tucked back spot near the end of the lakes away from town and it was the perfect spot! Grand Lake can get busy and the lakes are huge with motor boats that can make the water rocky for SUPing.
The cove we found was quiet without much traffic and smooth glass water. The pup joined me on the board for a bit and then I took a longer jaunt around the cove on my own. The area is gorgeous and the windless day rewarded me with glass like water surface and easy paddling.
If you have the chance, take the opportunity to visit and stay around the area. A gem in Colorado with endless activities for any and all.
