This was a fun trip because I was excited to combine two big peaks into a one day push. I think early on I was drawn to the bigger loops as I look back a decade later. Now I gravitate toward big loop routes with as many peaks as I can squeeze into a single day car-to-car slog.
We took the standard route up Grays and over to Torreys in a 6 hour round trip effort. Weather consolidated as we were on Torreys but we were able to descend before any activity. Having not fully learned my lesson on Bierstadt I again wore my FiveFinger shoes, but this time I didn't have the awful experience I did prior.
I liked this scenic loop and pairing the two peaks together, I mean who can turn down a two-for-one? I think I was pretty well hooked on peak bagging at this point and starting to apply my learnings to each outing. We had started earlier this trip, but still not pre-dawn.
It was a super chill day enjoying the double peaks Grays and Torreys and the lovely Stevens Gulch.
On your way down from Guanella pass, be sure to make a pitstop in Georgetown to enjoy some of the local spots.
Grab food from Roundabout, Mountainbuzz Cafe & Pizzeria, The Alpine Restaurant and Bar, or Pho Bay restaurant.
Stop by Guanella Pass Brewing or Cabin Creek Brewing.
