Bike Denver, now a part of Bicycle Colorado, was a former independent nonprofit organization that helped to establish and secure bike lanes among other initiatives for the cycling community in Denver. They, along with others, helped ensure the safety and longevity of our local cycling communities.

I briefly volunteered with Bike Denver in past community events and have personally benefited from some of the bike lanes they helped establish prior to joining Bicycle Colorado. One of my favorite projects was the bike lane they installed on Broadway, a busy avenue that runs north and south.

The protected lanes downtown are especially nice given the traffic we see in Colorado these days. Road cycling is my least favorite at times simply because of the anxiety caused by worrying about every buzzing car that passes. The protected lanes give a little more peace of mind when sharing our roads with two or four wheels.

If you travel downtown be sure to take advantage of the many lanes weaving in and around the city to help you travel by bike while keeping you safe thanks to their efforts!
