A friend visiting from out of state wanted to go mountain biking at the bike park in Breckenridge Colorado, so we set up a day to make it happen while he was in town. I had never been to Breckenridge for mountain bikes or outside of winter for that matter. I was also still new to mountain biking and this was my first time to a mountain bike park, so it was a timely opportunity.
We left Denver fairly late that morning due to me trying to wiggle out of jury duty obligations. Once free we took off and made it to the park with time to spare, or so we thought. We rented bikes for the day, not having our own at the time. There were some complications on behalf of our amigo, which also consumed a lot of time.
The trails were fun, all like 3 that we were able to squeeze in with the logistic complications. Taking the lift with a bike was new and arguably better than biking uphill, but that’s me. The trails we took weren’t too advanced so I didn’t struggle navigating the difficulties, though I’m sure there are plenty of routes above my pay grade.
On the last run of the day our friend took a big spill wiping out around a corner before I zoomed up and witnessed the crash. Aside from a bruised ego, he was ok but did injure his shoulder and needed to visit the first aid station down the hill. Ricardo and I enjoyed a couple adult bevies while he was getting tended too.
Afterwards we all enjoyed some food and drinks before heading back to Denver.
