Being a Colorado State University alumni means participating in Tour de Fat is second nature. New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins Colorado was one of my favorite breweries while attending CSU, namely because of the free brewery tour and complimentary drinks back-in-the-day. I doubt that is a thing anymore, with inflation and all, not to mention the changes that have happened at the brewery in the years since my days in college.
Having missed the parade and event in 2011, we were determined not to miss the Tour de Fat ride in Denver for 2012.
We rode our bikes across the city down to City Park. In 2012 they still had some small road closures to allow everyone to ride outside the park and around the streets of downtown Denver, but it was limited in comparison to 2010. Nonetheless we had a blast riding alongside all the other wacky costume wearing community members celebrating bikes and beer!
The feeling of thousands of bikes riding side-by-side in the streets wearing a variety of colorful costumes is a feeling not quite like anything else. Such a joy to participate in this annual tradition and enjoy our fun 303 community.
Another fabulous Tour de Fat in the books!
